Spring Term 3
What were The Arts like in the 80s?
Our big question for Spring Term 3 is: ‘What were The Arts like in the 80s?’ Throughout the term, we’ll explore this vibrant era by discovering different styles, studying iconic creations, and noticing the patterns that made 80s art so unique. We’ll then use everything we’ve learned to create our own pieces. To finish the term in true 80s style, we’ll celebrate all our learning with an exciting 80s party!
Our PE days this term will be on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child wears their PE kit to school on these day. We have still got an awful lot of school clothing that is not named – we cannot take responsibility for unnamed clothing, so it is essential that all school uniform is labelled clearly with your child’s name.
You can support your child’s learning at home by:
- Asking them about what they have learned about in school that day.
- Discussing the topics that are being covered together.
- Reading about the topics at home.
- Visiting the library to find out more about the topics for the term.
- Practise counting carefully and in multiples of 2s, 5s and 10s (Year 1).
- Practise blending and reading pseudo (nonsense words) in preparation for the Year 1 phonics check.
- Practise reading and spelling the Year 1 common exception words.
Autumn Term 2
What superpower is needed to change a material?
Our topic for the Autumn term 2 is ‘What superpower is needed to change a material?’ We are going to be learning a lot about different materials, spotting them in and around the school and looking at their properties and how we can change them.

Who am I and where do I come from?
Our big question this term is ‘Who am I and where do I come from?’ We will spend the first few weeks really getting to know your child and how they learn. We will then concentrate on getting the children to find similarities and differences between themselves and their friends and we look at who is in their families and why they are special.
